OVARIO phase II trial of combination niraparib plus bevacizumab maintenance therapy in advanced ovarian cancer following first-line platinum-based chemotherapy with bevacizumab

FCS hematologist and medical oncologist Gail Wright, MD, FACP, FCCP co-authored a recent phase II study assessing the safety and efficacy of niraparib + bevacizumab as a first-line maintenance therapy for patients with newly diagnosed advanced ovarian cancer. The promising results found the majority to be progression-free in the first 18 months.

Interesting drug and mechanism of action in the setting of ITP. Tolerability, efficacy appeared promising. Larger studies and post-marketing RWE will be of help in analyzing this treatment option.

Significant enhancement in 2-year EFS with axi-cell versus rescue chemoimmunotherapy + ASCT in refractory-relapsed DLBC-NHL. Toxicities, costs, operational aspects of CAR T-cell remain significant barriers in community oncology. Hopefully, enhanced products, technologies will allow broader utilization of CAR T-cell in the future.

Prognostic value of minimal residual disease negativity in myeloma: combined analysis of POLLUX, CASTOR, ALCYONE, and MAIA

MRD status in MM has unquestionable prognostic informational value, however many questions remain as how to address positive / negative MRD results. Should we de-escalate or stop Rx? When? Can we escalate Rx if + MRD? Which regimen, how long? It will be another few years till objective data are available. I do see value in at least having identification of clonality established upfront for tracking.
